We aren't in it for fame , we don't show our dogs, only once in a show benefiting shelter animals where our Khaki sire Won the Show for most unique coat !! we don't hunt our beagles like most "Beagle Breeders" in the south , we pamper our pets like their new owners would want them to be treated as home body housepet beagles not caged hounds...
some of our lines shed less fur , we don't claim they are non shed dogs , just less shedding than most other Beagle breeders purebred beagle blood- lines, since we are actively working selecting the best offspring from our lines to improve the beagle as an Indoor- companion not a rabbit tracking ,

Some of our khaki pups have short fur that mostly comes out when there is a change of season ,
after having a thicker fuller coat they might loose some of the volume as the weather warms up.

we used to joke and say "like water off a ducks back" when we bathed khaki puppies.
nothing much was coming loose and clogging the drain like when some
tri colored beagles got their bath.
they do of course have deeper coats of fur in the cold weather,
then loosing winter thicker coats for spring and summers warmer temps , etc.

Gracen and Paisley make adorable often less shedding pups like our boy "Happy" we kept
(to the right) his coat is amazingly soft it barely comes loose when you pet him its so luxurious to the touch we cant stop petting him |

We have a 16 month old, and the two are thick as thieves.

She also “goes to bed” around 8pm every night and enjoys to be tucked under the blankets or burrow down in our bed.

Our sweet girl turned 5 yesterday! Time has flown!! Charlotte continues to be a loving and warmth seeking (whether it’s under many blankets or the sun) beagle.

She especially likes taking walks around the neighborhood and smelling all the rabbits. She becomes the most loving when the children wish her goodnight before they go to bed. We love our Charlotte so much!

Sometimes people are surprised at Beagles happy indoors ... we have selectively bred for certain qualities to make our line people oriented rather than interested in hunting instincts we have spent 25 plus years honing in on the dogs that are focused on their Families to improve our line for homebodies, and housepet beagles.

All Grown up now he is the " perfect indoor housepet beagle "size . Runtsized beagles are perfect they arent heavy to lift and can still keep up with your walks but dont need them as much as standard beagles require.

Beach Beagles ! Khaki runtsized Beagle Grace travels to the beach with Miss c. visiting a friend in Holden Beach and staying at our favorite dog friendly Hotel on Myrtle Beach !
the Khaki beagles can take being out in the sunshine better than a black tri color . Those attract the heat of the rays and must find shade or shelter. We place alot of the lighter colored beagles in warm climate locations for this reason they enjoy a day at the Beach !!  Traveling Companion!

Grace the khaki on left ,and a younger now retired Standard sized orange mom our larger standard size "Athena" also a daughter to Grace's mother tri colored "Lillie" but from a later litter with a different Dad . they were both about to jump down off the couch. it goes to show you anything is possible size wise or colors from the same mother. she is seen to right with Grace. half sister Athena the orange gal had bigger everything, ears, head, neck, length of body, tail, paw size. lifting grace , no problem, lifting a larger standard requires two arms. |

Our moms have a few litters for us and then are adopted as pets . we do this to enjoy the improving of the hound breed for pet homes.

We have spent over 30+ years selectively breeding for good indoor companion qualities, and among all the companion qualities we breed for, temperament for house pets being first , we have also worked to develop softer, shorter more indoor appropriate coats in some of our rare color house pet beagle bloodlines, these coats come in many beautiful hound colors. The softer rare color coats are not as 'hard' and stiff or long as that of some traditional tri colored beagle sporting dog line hounds can have- which were originally bred for with the sporting intention of hunting and running through the briars and brambles coming out or breaking off rather than becoming caught and tangled-up in the briar patch :) chasing after Rabbits . |

"the only thing my beautiful chocolate sunshine beagle hunts is my ham sandwich while we hangout on the couch . "Bogie" is night and day different from my previous tri colored beagle who would escape constantly from our fenced yard to track animals in my neighborhood. His breeder had designed his generations for the sporting hound lines which my parents bought into with my first beagle growing up !. And he shed so much all year long my mom never would let me have him inside the house."

Tricolor BeaglesThe traditional Tricolor Beagle is the Black/Tan/White or Black/Red/White Tri coloring usually seen.
As newborns, they are only two colors- black & white, and as they grow they develop the third reddish coloring on their heads and shoulders where black was present, the white stays white. |

Any color Beagle may or may not have a "Blaze" which is the white between a dog's eyes, and/or a "Bandana" which is the white around the back of their neck. Patches below had a wide blaze and white muzzle area around the nose.

The Vanblons wrote to tell us about their family and home, letting us know their childrens' ages, home type and that they have a fenced yard, and that mom will be at home with the new pup! "The dog will sleep in our bedroom when it first arrives, probably in it's own bed in our master bathroom. Audna works from home so she'll be available to assist the dog when it first arrives. We plan on attending PetSmart training classes to train the dog to sit, stay, come, etc. We are not sure if we want a male or female dog. It will be an indoor dog mostly, but will be able to run free in our fenced back yard for exercise. My brother has a maltipooh and my sister has a lab, so the doggies can frolic together during family vacations. We may use your boarding services in the future when we travel. " We love seeing our babies again when folks travel, and have had families travel to board with us so that their family member can have his own doggy vacation here in his first home at sunshine acres.

"Miss Christina & kids, I just wanted to you send yall an update on Patches. He is doing soooo great in training class. Our trainer gave him the pre-test today and he passed 16 out of 20 objectives. She said he is one of the smartest Beagles she has ever trained. Housebreaking is going great, he goes to the back door and sits to let us know it is time to go out. He has finished up all his shots and is going later this week to be neutered. The Vet said he is one of the prettiest puppies ever. We are looking forward to seeing you all again next week when we drop him off for boarding. Thanks again for raising such a smart little fellow for us! Audna VanBlon & Family" |

Our classy Chocolate Beagles have warm Brown & White coloring, and they can often have less shedding coats! Usually their backs will have a deeper chocolate, and their heads will be a brighter brown color.

In this puppy setup, he has the choice of bed and toys, and paper, and learns to choose paper for "good hurry up"and keep his bed clean. We work with our puppies ahead of time to help with the transition to their indoor forever pet-home!

Cole has been an amazing addition to this beagle-loving household.He has grown to be so handsome, he gets fawned over everywhere we go! He is also quite the mush, we get lots of kisses and cuddles from this little guy.Cole is super smart and is a quick learner. He enjoys our daily walks and trips to the dog park.He is quite entertaining and gets along so well with Roscoe, our first beagle who is now 2, and Gino our 6 year old basset-beagle mix that we rescued back in March of this year. As with children in the same home one can have straight fine hair and another may have course curly hair in a different color , its not a perfect science but over the years we have worked to selectively breed the best quality coloring/textures for softness/and least shedding furs possible. We do not claim any of our beagles are Non- shed.

Of course a dog has to loose its winter coat in the heat of summer etc. and diet, and even stress, can affect fur and shedding.. we feel the omega 3 fish oils for skin and coat in the puppy Eukanuba we feed are a great help toward our babies coats and hope our adopting families likewise are careful what they feed to achieve the best quality to continue our years of choosing the bloodlines to improve on the typical beagles coat for indoor companions. We call our best coats Less Shed since they are considerably less than hunting hounds who also have an odor and longer course piece of fur than our rare color beagles generally have.

Our luxurious Khaki and white beagles are Miss C's favorites! We have worked to develop softer coats all around, and the khakis in particular most often have the very least stereotypical hound traits and are usually the ones to have the nicest less shedding fur, some folks even call it a hypo-allergenic coat, which is why many of our customers who have had allergies to dog dander and fur in the past chose to adopt one of our rare color khaki beagles with the shorter less shedding coats. Some of The Chocolates, oranges, and occasionally tricolors "depending on heritage" can also have the "less shedding coats" good for house-pets ! just like in human families there can be different types of hair/fur and it can be influenced by diet as well as ancestry . We breed each of our lines keeping all traits in mind, while also focusing on coat quality since our babies are bred to be indoor companion pets. |

Khaki Cuties... Interior Designer inspired colors !!
(We say this tongue and cheek)- sometimes folks do tend to appreciate their colors for their beauty, but these are all true hound colors, some of which are much more rare than others. What is exclusive to our bloodline is the many years selective breeding we've done to increase the quality of coats, softness, shorter length of fur coat, and due to their quality, in many cases the richness & vibrance of the color, and decrease the amount of fur that comes out, since these are intended to be indoor housepets. This is only one of the many traits we've considered and focused on more than other breeders who are developing their lines for other purposes. We don't agree with designer dogs, where breeders cross breed resulting in obtaining some of the traits they desired from various breeds to create a new type of dog or look, ours are all pure bred beagles, we just used our discretion to choose puppies with the best possible qualities, one of which included a softer less course coat, that Miss Christina's mom, who was an interior designer, noted many years ago would make a better indoor pet and she favored the less shedding khaki color, which she joked coincidently went so well with many yuppie decor, thus we jokingly made the comment they were interior designer inspired colors many years ago, before the advent of what other breeders have bred for and coined as their 'designer dogs'. We have not designed the beagle, we have only enhanced our line for - Pet homes & families who want an indoor raised sweetheart to love for a lifetime companionship ! Folks tell us their khaki beagle has less of the typical beagle traits such as tracking, howling , and running off. we love that other folks see the difference in them too ! A family who had a tri colored beagle when the kids grew up told us their dog would escape and go hunt down rabbits to bring to their back door as a present. Their khaki beagle is so unlike that dog they told us they dont even have alergic reactions to it vs their tri color that made them alergic when it was at home not out hunting prey !

not all our breeding dogs live with us, some are adopted out as family pets ,and have arrangements worked out so they can return to be bred, boys might get a puppy to join them , or free boarding when their family travels to the beach if they sire a litter while staying with us... one local Monroe family lets Saddle back Tri colored" Gaige" stay with us ,and he sires litters that have his unique white paws and coloring down their legs. That way , We dont have to have one of each type of look here.. , in order to have puppies arrive who have varied looks and markings or coloring. We have sires in pet homes... a khaki boy, silver boy ,chocolate boy, tri boy and above to right -Graham cracker colored "Graham" are some of our stud muffins who help create our beautiful unique line of housepet beagles for other to enjoy.

We joked with her blond parents about having chosen the only lemon in her litter cause they matched ! Folks often choose a puppy that matches them well , just as people choose a mate who resembles themselves ! They posed for our Yuppy Puppy Photo !! Margaret's mom was expecting their 1st human baby and having learned from raising her was a good initial experience in parenthood for the young couple !

"She is SO cute. And you cannot believe how affectionate she is. We let her snuggle with us on the couch every night -- and in the bed for naps and early in the AM -- She loves that! But happily goes in her crate when we put her there. But her favorite place is to snuggle with me. :-) IT is helping a lot. I miss Holly so much - im sort of numb still ......since i had her for so long as she was my first dog. Thanks for asking. I have a couple pics to send from Mexico where you can see Pixi holding fort over the place! And when she isnt playing in the grass or sand she is being spoiled by our staff that fight over who gets to carry her around. The cleaning girls come and ask if they can bring Pixi around with them as they clean the bedrooms and they sing mexican lulabys to her all morning. Then they carry her around like a baby. She is one spoiled DIVA!! all the best, karen"

We are a small family, a stay at home single mom and her two kids, who love beagles. Raising beagles is our sole focus. Sunshine Acres Beagles started in the North West, with our first litter of beagle puppies by Miss Christina's 'Angel', alongside the birth of Christina's daughter 'Christi' in 1990. A couple years and puppies later in 1992 Miss Christina's son "Cody" joined the family. Christina had owned beagles previously as pets, and after noticing the differences in beagle lines, from hunting stock in the south to the show bloodlines in the NorthWest, she decided to focus on developing a line strictly for the responsible pet-home, breeding for the qualities that make beagles a great family addition and raising them for that purpose. Miss Christina had experienced the joy of the beagle breed from early childhood, falling in love with their endearing, curious, and well-rounded nature. She also experienced the sorrow of losing a friend due to the scent-driven desires bred into and started on in hunting lines, where their passion was meant for the game. However, having also owned companion beagles, and seeing their passion for their master and human families, Miss Christina understood the difference that breeding focus and upbringing methods can make and with love for the Beagle breed she decided to share that joy we have found in our beloved beagle companions with other families like ours, who truly want a companion to live as a member of the household. Our love for the beagle breed has compelled us to focus on breeding to improve the breed for homebodies, not hunting abilities, raising puppies to be family members specifically bred and raised for the purpose of being a happy healthy beloved pet! Charlie saves on heating bills by keeping my bed warm in the winter ;) and I have reached a new level of hatred for Mondays when I have to go to the office and leave him after a fabulous weekend of fetch and snuggles.

Miss Christina's daughter Christi and orange sunshine beagle pup Chili Pepper. Chili had been adopted and then came to board with us here at home while his parents went out of town. We LOVE seeing our babies again and hanging out with them while we take care of our daily duties here at home, including web updates and emails with sincere adoptive homes.
