Tri-color Adult Beagles are 3 colors- Black, White & Red. Tri puppies start off black & white, & typically develop their 3rd red/tan color as they grow up on their head & shoulders turns.

20 years of experience has gone into developing our exclusive house pet variety beagle bloodline. We continue to develop our beagles' luxurious coats & stunning colors, and overall family-oriented wonderful companion pet traits in our pure bred beagle bloodline.

Since our pets are not allowed to go into any breeding programs & are purely for those looking to raise up a companion beagle with exceptional traits to be just right for an indoor pet, only we have this unique and exquisite companion pet bred & raised bloodline. We are not breeding for hunting abilities & mindset, and rather than simply focusing on show worthy looks, we aim to improve our beloved beagles in all areas for the pet-home. By first establishing them as a part of the human pack order, and forming good indoor pet habits from the very start, they are able to reach their happy potential as the perfect match for their unique pet homes! Are you Smitten?

We see a variety of desires from our potential families since our bloodline has so many unique & beautiful characteristics to love. Because of this diversity, we can often consider new interests as an appropriate match for one of our Available Puppies.

If you're ready for a puppy and are smitten with an available baby you can ask us about approving your household as our baby's potential home, and if approved you may be able to claim him or her with your deposit to hold your baby off the market until you can either come out soon to meet with us and welcome home your new darling (Afternoons/evenings that week or a weekend trip for the fam!) or have your baby fly home via the PetSafe program.

If you don't see an Available puppy in the color(s), size(s), gender or whatever really steals your heart, many of our families ask to get themselves pre-approved for a puppy from us so that they can have the choice to claim a matching baby whenver everything works out just right. Our Puppies are offered to pre-approved matches first before we can consider new inquiries as a current match- so holding your spot in he line of decisions is always a good idea!

Our Beagle pets, exclusive Bloodline:
Since 1990 we have developed & raised our Sunshine Acres Beagles for house pet friendly qualities. Ours are not the typical beagles designed for hunting abilities you find in the local papers. We have spent years selectively choosing & keeping our breeding lines for homebodies that make excellent Loving Lap dogs, and have placed them only into pet homes.

These puppies are intended for Pet Homes Only, not for breeding, hunting, showing or resale. We provide a copy of the parent's/ancestor's AKC papers to show that our pet-puppies are of pure blood AKC Beagle origins. Litters are not individually registered to prevent Breeding of our Sunshine Acres Beagles, which is prohibited.
We reserve the right to place our pups only into homes we are comfortable with, and refuse to sell our babies to anyone planning to Hunt or breed our uniquely developed bloodline.

If you currently have a beagle, we will ask for their spay/neuter receipt prior to selling any of our puppies to safeguard our many years of work developing our exclusive bloodlines of Pet only pups.
If you intend to adopt Two, we will only sell littermates, or pups of the same gender. If they are going to be unrelated, they must be the same gender to avoid accidental breeding of the unique house pet variety line Miss Christina has developed.

Our Khaki, and our Chocolate colored beagles most often tend to have the least shedding hypo allergenic fur coat. (Typically followed by silvers & various oranges, and special tricolors, ultimately varying by each litter.) For some people choosing a puppy who is already finished with all the shots in their series of 4 and has reached the age they no longer sleep in a bathtub & are able to begin a house breaking routine in their new home makes more sense. Busy families and individuals often ask if we have 6 mo and older puppies available.

*Remember that your new puppy will start out in a confined area as they slowly learn about your home through your lead. Their safe-base can be the bathtub, kitchen or laundry room floor with a childgate, or easy to set up Playpen from Petsmart, as seen on our suggested items page, with paper on one side and bedding on the other for whenever you are not right there supervising as they learn about and adapt to their new household there with you. Boundaries are good for puppies, so that as an intelligent pupil they can respect your leadership, learn, and gradually earn their household privleges. Through this process they will be able to be trusted and enjoy more freedoms when they grow up responsibly in your home!

a young lady recently wrote us to say she was so lonely before getting her new friend shipped home to her .. now she goes out for walks and has met several new friends and other folks with dogs who walk them she walks with sometimes. She said i look forward to our walks since not only do my dog and I enjoy it and benefit from the exercise Im never lonely I can always grab the leash and get busy having a good time ! Or if I want to stay in and hang out I have Lillie to snuggle with on the couch and watch some movies together , I love coming home now and having a greeting that always cheers me up!
We like to find a good time to sit down and review details from new interests who are seeking our approval to adopt one of our currently available puppies. We are also pre-approving expectant parents who are looking to hold their spot in the claiming and adopting a younger/newborn or future puppy. Please keep in mind that sometimes things happen, emails go to spam, newborns are born etc, and if we miss your email, please don't take it personally. We get many emails a day, from both new interests, already pre-approved homes, and happy families sending pictures and updates. The majority of our day is spent with the puppies, and we try to get back to everyone as soon as we can as we see their email and details. But if a few days go by, emails can get pushed back to the next page. If you didn't receive a reply, please resend/fwd your email with all your details so that we can learn about your home. If you have a favorite you would be ready for, please put their name in your subject line! We dont usually open emails that do not have a subject line, so please put a description of your interest in the subject so that we can see your interest sooner!

Why is there a pre-approved waiting list for certain timeframes and preferences ? Everyone's preferences are unique, from color, size, or gender, to timeframe decisions. Therefore our pre-approved waiting list helps us focus on everyone's goals for the future, as we learn more about each family beforehand, and help them find their matches during a time that works for them!

How do puppies become available?
Since everyone has different preferences and situations going on in their lives, the waiting list for certain timeframes, colors, sizes, and genders becomes satisfied. Then new folks can consider those puppies as matches if they are ready and seek adoption approval, otherwise, they may choose to join our waiting list, and at their individual turn(s) during a timeframe that works for them, we offer our pre-approved waiting list families the opportunity to claim or pass on matching puppies until they decide to adopt just the one that steals their heart!

How do you find forever homes?
We are committed to our puppies' care first and foremost, devoting our lives to properly raising our babies for pet-homes. Therefore it is important to us to match them up with the right families to continue learning from and forever homes to thrive in. If you are planning to have your puppy fly home- then often Fridays work best as a day for a trip to the airport, but other weekdays could work as well, and again, afternoons are better since we have lots to do in the morning!

Puppy Health Care- Shots and Dewormings are kept up to date!

We keep all our puppies current on their shots and dewormings, and will send home their health folder with their new family so that when they go in for their booster (if needed) the vet can see exactly what they've had. After the puppy booster shots in the series of 4 are completed, your pup will just need their rabies shot done in your name when old enough and a yearly booster shot when they turn 1yr old.

Since worms are a common occurance that can be picked up / sniffed up very easily by pets, new puppy owners must be responsible for continuing the de-worming routine. This is a routine done every 2 weeks for puppies and is easy for new puppy parents to do until the vet puts them on a once a month pill. Simply pick up your puppy's own bottle of dewormer from Petsmart - good brands are Evict DS, Nemex II, Strongid or Safe-guard 4. You can order Safe-guard Canine Dewormer online from Petsmart (which saves over retail pricing in the store- please use our links on the ahead suggested items page when online shopping so we get credit! ) and give your puppy their routine oral dose yourself with a syringe to ensure anything new that is picked up & matured is passed from their system. They like the taste, and this helps you keep from needing that done at the vet's office, saving considerably by doing it for your puppy yourself.

If you see what looks like spaghetti in their stools, don't worry- that means your dewormer worked and that's how they are passed!

We, Miss Christina and kids Christi & Cody devote our attention to properly raising our little family members for indoor companionship and match them up with the right forever pet-homes one by one!

We like to review emails together when time is available and pre-approve sincere interests who have done their research, appreciate the time we spend caring for the babies & our efforts to provide and update all the helpful information found in our website, and are patiently committed to successfully adding one of our babies to their home as a lifelong companion beagle.

Emailing helps us keep up with the details and allows us the ability to focus our attention on our babies at all times without interruption. We can get on emails when it is a good time, and when needed can easily get up to take care of things and return to emails later as appropriate. When we are able to find a stopping point in between caring for all of our beagle babies we sit down to consider the details and compose an email back to our many excited families. Please be understanding that this month we had the largest volume of viewers than ever.

We are a small family, not a pet store, and the care of our babies is our first and foremost priority, not sales, so please be patient and understanding of our values. Depending on that litter we will plan homecomings for after their mommy weans them- spending less and less time in with them (as their teeth grow in and they begin eating dry food). They begin getting over seeing her, and instead focus on people and their littermates. We like to have our babies already matched up so that once ready they can go right into their forever home and begin learning how to fit in with their human pack for the years to come.

Ask us for pre-approval to be included in the claiming process and start reviewing puppy tips to be all set for a successful addition! To hold your spot in the claiming process, ask us about holding your spot in our pre-approved waiting list with you $100 deposit, so that you get offered the chance to claim puppies with that deposit before they become available to the public! The $100 deposit is included in the purchase price, and is non-refundable.

We are currently making matches and approving homes for adoption one by one so that once these babies are ready to begin bonding they can go ahead and enter their forever homes to start forming lifelong routines!

Why is Puppy Guidance so important?

As your puppy enters their new home, they will begin forming their lifelong habits in their new householod by seeking out boundaries and learning from pack leaders- aka humans. This first week home is the best time to establish life lessons & human pack order so that they can understand you will always be their strong, wise pack leader, who will always make the best decisions in the long run and do what is best for the pack. Your attentive beagle puppy will observe your interactions, and directly learn from each of your responses- learning how you view each behavior and whether its acceptable within your pack.

One by one our pre-approved sunshine acres beagle parents can take their turn and choose to claim their lifelong family members (or pass if they'd like to continue waiting for color/size/gender/timeframe matches) Folks in line are always welcome to update their preferences, especially if they see a new face they'd love to be considered for! We just want to see lifelong happy matches for our puppies and families, and love seeing everything work out just right!

Once claimed, we'll announce the decision on the website, and our families continue to watch our updates as the babies grow up here. In the meanwhile, the forever home prepares and reviews our guidance pages to be consistent in successfully raising their puppy from day one. Their mom will begin weaning them, spending less and less time in with them now that they have teeth, and the puppies will start playing with their toys, and looking to humans for all their needs. Folks often like to send along a care package, such as bed, toys, treats for mom while she nursing them etc. for their little family member to enjoy and benefit from here with his or her littermates ,and take home something familiar! We'll set appointments for homecoming so that when they're ready, the puppies can join their forever homes to begin bonding and learning just how to fit in for the years to come!

Once you've taken your time to learn about our family and agree with our mission in developing companion beagle lines for pet homes only, you can take the next step in the process by telling us about your potential home for one of our babies, so that we too can learn about you, and move forward in forming a lasting relationship with your forever home.

If you are not ready for a puppy, take some time to consider your options. We do have Younger Litters & Newborns, and well as Upcoming Litters that would allow you more time to prepare. Our Upcoming page shows our expectant mommies and their past puppies for an idea of what babies could arrive in the near future! If you don't feel you'd would be able to train a young puppy (going through the nibbling/biting phase and establishing yourself as leader) we do also have Adult Beagles for adoption (retiring, relocating) who have already established personalities as well as Rescue Beagles looking for the right family. Like with any new dog, you would simply need to ensure your beagle is taken outside regularly during their first week in the new home in order to establish a routine there in your home as a pack.

We like to pre-approve families one by one, You are welcome to hold your spot in the claiming process for whatever timeframe and preferences you'd like, or you can ask about adopting an available baby now!

Emailing is our prefferred method of communication, as this allow us the ability to better focus on our babies and responsibilities around sunshine acres, and also allows us the ability to keep track of families' details and preferences in order to further help make the right matches happen! Phone Calls from interested customers across the nation would interrupt our work here too much for us to truly devote ourselves to our beagles. When time is available, we can choose to sit down and review potential families' details together, discussing possibilites, and replying when time allows- if something comes up we can easily get up and take care of whatever is needed here, and return to writing back when time is appropriate. Being in the middle of a phone call would hinder our awareness & ability to respond to what is going on around Sunshine Acres, so as a family we have chosen not to provide our phone number to the public so as to not only have a private family life, but to be able to devote ourselves to the care of the newborns and other responsibilities that we have here at home.

Different preference lines often become satisfied, as everyone has their own unique preferences! So if you are open to more colors/sizes or either gender it can be your turn to claim or pass on matches sooner! Our Waiting List Lines can change quickly, as pre-approved families may choose to:

Pass on the Current puppies, and choose to wait on their turn for a Future Timeframe/matching puppy.

To hold a spot in the claiming process, most folks like to go ahead & get themselves pre-approved & join the Waiting List to hold their spot with their deposit. The $100 deposit counts towards the purchase price, is non refundable deposit, and will hold your place in line / will hold your puppy off the market as your own so others will know that puppy has been officially claimed!

You can place a deposit on a specific puppy once approved to hold them off the market until your appointment to come out or until homecoming time, or you can place it ahead of time and then apply that deposit towards the puppy you claim when the time comes. Often folks like to get preapproved and join now, and then they claim their very own darling to bring home soon, depending on the options they were open to!

If you are planning ahead, you are always welcome to seek pre-approval ahead of time to help ensure everything works out perfectly when the time comes to find, claim, and raise your new baby beagle puppy! People are always welcome to stay on the waiting list for as long as they wish, until everything works out perfectly!

Its works out beautifully when folks are able to plan ahead and seek our pre-approval to adopt one of our babies. When the time is right we then begin offering their preferred matches as it becomes their turn for different preference lines. By joining ahead of time, they held their spot in line ahead of time and are ahead of others in the claiming process. Sometimes people pass due to timeframes or specific desires, so the line is open to change at any time, making it possible for folks to join and be offered a chance to claim right away, or pass and continue waiting for a future turn to claim their very own matching Sunshine Acres Babies!

It's perfectly fine to hold your spot in line for the future! If you'll need to wait a couple weeks, months, or more for a puppy to enter your home, ask about getting pre-approved for the waiting list. Often folks like to join the waiting list ahead of time to hold their position in the claiming process. They can then wait as long as desired, and may look forward to current or younger babies, expected litters, &/ Or future puppies. They can choose to claim a puppy at their turn(s) if everything works out, or pass & continue waiting for any reason.

Tell us a about your preferred timeframe and more about yourself & one of our babies' potential home life there in your household, so that we can consider you as a good puppy home, and begin an adoptive relationship, working with you to successfully find and add the right match for your approved companion pet home!

Why letting us know about your Matching Timeframe matters to us:
- We ask that folks let us know ahead of time as to whether a puppy's time to come home works for them, before we can consider the puppy as a possible match available to them. Knowing this allows us to properly devote our energy towards making the appropriate match for a current puppy with the appropriate family who is ready for the puppy at the right time, and others may join the waiting list to find their own matches; Then everyone can proceed in making plans for their puppy's homecoming.
  At this stage in the puppies' development, it is the easiest time to take the role of leader and directly guide your learning beagle's state of mind into a responsible member of your unique human-dog pack. As Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer explains, everything you do, even subconsciously, influences a dog's state of mind. You must remember to encourage/nuture the correct state of mind, and to be careful to not accidentally nurture/encourage the Wrong state of mind. We know it's easy to forget and simply spoil your puppy, but its more important to consistently do what is best for your puppy's learning process and development, by responding correctly to their behaviors and being patient & consistent so that the correct state of mind sticks and only positive are habits are allowed to form.
  Our puppies are very attentive to humans, and at a young stage we have found it to be the easiest time for new families to make the biggest impression on their lifelong companion pet's behaviors.
  We prefer for the learning puppy to enter their forever home during the appropriate time for that particular litter. This is when they are at an impressionable stage and can begin adapting to your household & discovering your pack's order, form working routines there with you, and learn how to fit in best as a member of your pack! We usually prefer for folks to not have to do an extended boarding here where we have to keep a puppy on here for someone, where they miss what we think is just the most enjoyable stage when the puppy is still small & infant like, looking to you for all their guidance and bonding in order to become your unique lifelong companion.

What do I feed?

We start with canned Iams and Eukanuba Puppy and transition them to Dry Eukanuba Small Breed (which is the smallest kibble) and dry Iams Puppy.
Puppies eat twice a day- when you eat breakfast and dinner. Young puppies will generally be eating 1/4 a cup twice a day, sometimes less than that if they are a nano size. Over Feeding?
Beagles are known to eat all you give them, so be careful to restrict how much you allow them while they are young, especially for a mini or nano to stay that way. Overfeeding can lead to a stretched stomach, before the body starts adjusting to the amount of food intake, and later a larger beagle than you had hoped for.

Sometimes we get frantic calls from customers who fed more than we reccommended, saying "my puppy's tummy looks bloated" We say "cut back on the amount of food you feed tomorrow in order to feed appropriately to your little baby's size". Remember the food also expands when the puppy drinks water, so don't be surprised if their tummy looks large. A stretched tummy simply means their body was not meant to require that amount of food, and you simply need to cut back next time until their tummy is back to an appropriate size. Usually 1/4 a cup twice a day is the right amount for a new puppy, sometimes less for the smaller sized babies which again, you can always cut back its you see that it was too much. Its been shown that overfeeding a smaller size dog can lead to a larger one , just feed twice daily and carefully to keep a mini mini !!

Where should my new puppy sleep?

The first step to housetraining,

is setting up a confined area your bathtub for the new puppy to stay in when you aren't able to take him outside. Puppies can sleep in your bath tub at night , with paper on one end and a doggie bed, and toys, on the other so they can use the paper when you are busy and aren't right with them in their new house, or cant take them outside.

Crate training can come later at around 14 -15 weeks old, and you can follow our advice on doing this easily from our tips page!

By starting them from the time they can walk our puppies are way ahead of the game on housetraining and using paper !

Beagle Puppy Training
HouseTraining?

Begin taking your puppy outside to a preferred spot in the yard starting their first day home. With any new dog, you will need to take them out often to begin forming a routine in your home of what door to go to and where to go in the yard.

When you get a puppy they can start out in a confined safe-area with newspaper and bedding and toys for them to go in whenever you are not supervising them in the new house. This can be a pet playpen, a kitchen, or a laundry area.
When you are with your puppy he or she can play on the carpet and you can take them out as needed, but when you are not right there to supervise, they can be in their safe area and still have the option to go on paper until household routines are learned.

Take them out as often as possible, and begin developing a routine recording how many times they went, and around what time. Keep in mind that they will need to "HurryUp" as we call it everytime they eat, drink, wake up from a nap, or play.

Avoiding accidents that first week learning about the new home is very helpful in housetraining. In order to help avoid accidents, only have your puppy out on the floor when supervised, and if he or she seems to start losing interest in you and begin searching/ sniffing around, they are probably looking for a spot to go, usually by finding the scent of a spot that has already been marked as a hurry up spot (which is why avoiding accidents in the first place is good!)

If accidents happen, be sure to use a good product that is meant for cleaning up pet accidents, so that the scent is completely removed from their mind!

When you aren't able to supervise your puppy in their new household put them back in their contained safe-area so that they will be able to confidently choose paper rather than bed if they need to go. With your supervision and leadership your beagle can earn house priveleges for safe and more harmonious years to come.

Crate Training is good for everyone involved, whether you plan to use one regularly in the future or just when needed. Getting your pet comfortable with his or her own crate there in your home ahead of time helps give them a good option in the future when you need to go out, have someone new over, or need to travel.

You can start crate training after your pup can start being expected to hold their bladder through the night. b>After around 14 - 15 weeks or so, older puppies can usually start sleeping in a crate at noght, and you can plan to get up early the next morning those first few days to let them go outside, as they learn your schedule and form working lifelong routines in your home.

Whenever you see your puppy walk into the open crate on their own, reinforce that decision with a "good in your bed" in a good job tone. We gave Cinder a treat in the crate, and she liked the experience of being in there! Teaching your dog a key command is good- our Grace knows "Get in your bed" and will happily go get in her crate whenever we need her to. She was taught this with a positive reinforcement as a growing pup- everytime she came in from outside we would toss a treat into the crate or have one waiting for her and tell her get in your bed, she would get in and be rewarded with a treat, as well as a Good get in your bed! to reinforce she did good by going into the crate, and would close the door and let her spend a little time in there to dry her feet after coming in the house.

Its helpful to start out in a designated area, with the option of paper down, and then put an open crate in their area. They can begin going into the crate to lay down and relax, and if they still need to use the paper they can go out onto it in case you aren't able to take them out when they need to go- this can help your adjusting puppy learn to gradually sleep in their own crate, but still use the paper outside of the crate if needed. When the paper is dry a few mornings in a row, then you know your puppy can hold his or her bladder through the night and can begin closing the door, and getting up early the next morning to take them out.

Always take them out the same door, so they associate that door with going outside to hurry up, and to the same spot in the yard so they can pick up the scent of where they've gone before, and know what their outside to do! Dogs like to re-mark where they have gone before, so starting a routine of where to go from the beginning is always helpful in building those associations for them to remember for the years to come! When your new dog goes outside to 'hurry up', let them know they did a good hurry up so they will want to repeat that behavior, even on command, in the future- making for a much easier housebreaking and walk-taking experience!

New Puppy Training Tip:

All puppies go through learning stages as they develop. Your new sunshine acres beagle puppy will be joining your home attentive to you, his or her human caregiver, and will be ready to begin learning the best way to fit in with your pack for the most fulfilling future. Take advantage of this special adapting time by helping them understand what habits & behaviors within this pack will be most beneficial so that everyone can be happy.

As a pack animal, puppies are seeking out that crucial pack order and strong pack leaders to follow, which will keep them safe throughout whatever comes in the future. Dogs thrive within a pack when the proper protocol is established upfront, by confident, calm and assertive leaders to follow for the years to come. Demonstrate your leadership skills to your new baby Beagle by establishing the ground rules from day one, and being consistent so that he can fully learn from each experience and move forward. That assertive communication will bond you and your new k9 addition closer together as they will develop a deep respect for you. Communicate to your new puppy what behaviors are good and beneficial, and what behaviors are bad and will not be acceptable as a lifelong habit. By understanding the pack boundaries, they can more easily begin adapting to your household in order live the most harmonious & happy life to their wonderful full potential as your own perfect companion pet for the many years to enjoy together !

After the ground rules are established, your beagle will have the pridlege of enjoying fewer restrictions in the future and be given the opportunity to live an ultimately much happier life in harmony with your pack.

When deciding to get a puppy for the family- go over all the responsibilities that will be involved, ie, feeding, water, exercise, responsible play & consistent training. Also talk to each other about how as they get older you all will be taking the pup outside often, they usually need to go any time they eat, drink or wake up from a nap. While still small enough to use paper, a young puppy goes in his confined safe area, and you don't have to worry about peeing and pooping in the house because they don't have free-reign until they have learned from you and shown they are responsible in your home.

Being up front about the responsibilities will let everyone in the family see that you are each serious about adoption, and have already considered all that is involved and are willing to commit as a family effort to responsibly raise a puppy as a family member!

Our Number One Rule in training, Is NEVER ALLOW YOUR NEW PUPPY TO NIBBLE OR BITE ANY FLESH, even what appears to be innocent teething on your finger! It may not hurt now, but it will later if that experimental behavior is allowed to develop into habit!

When new families come to meet our pups, We ask that No one scrath or tickle the puppies since boundaries are still being established and Do not allow the puppies they hold to nibble or bite their fingers and hands.

Roughousing at a young age encourages biting as an automatic response to the roughhands, and that type of energy can cause the wrong state of mind to develop during such a crucial learning & bonding time. Once your puppy is an established, responsible member of the pack, playing is fine because he already knows the boundaries- its simply important to first guide your young one through puppyhood maintaing a calm state of mind so that they can feel comfortable in being calm whenever appropriate in the future, and you will have a much easier time training, and developing obediance & trust, before the time comes to begin exploring life's adventures with your very own sidekick!

Establishing Respect from day one is important while the new addition is observing the pack order, figuring out the boundaries and how to begin adapting to the new household pack. Help your puppy understand and learn the rules, so that they can move forward in the right direction towards a healthy relationship with your pack and bonding with lifelong masters, so that down the road your canine addition will be a responsible member of the family. By allowing a puppy to teeth on you and bite your fingers- that acceptance of his potential dominance will result in a loss of respect for you by the new k-9 addition to your home. Maggie just loves her so much. Muffin is just happy being in your lap - as you can see from the photo with her Daddy. She was just spayed last week and doing great. I just wanted to give you a quick update on Bella. She was so good on the ride home! She slept in her crate most of the time, when she'd wake up I'd hold her and snuggle. When it was time to go back in her crate she'd go right back in without crying. She only had to "hurry up" one time and I had a pad down for her. She's adjusting really well, my two cats don't really bother with her. They just watch her and check things out. She does love attention from her humans! Everyone loves her! Mike thinks she is an amazing pup! He just told me last night he'd consider getting another pup from you when Bella gets older! That is really amazing because he always told me one dog is enough. Preparing for the New Puppy! Hint: If you are saving up newspapers for when you bring your new puppy home, toss out all the slick ones they are not absorbent and pups slip and slide in the tub vs. the white pages which work real well during the still goin on paper phase, right after bringing the puppy home..

Over the next few weeks they can begin going outdoors too, then it wont be long till they are used to your home & being crated at night (we advise you how to go about this when you pick up your puppy & you can also learn about this process by following our Tips pages!) , but at first it is great to have a few stacks of papers on hand !

( we also love it when folks think to bring some to us.. we are always appreciative of those ! You can only imagine how much paper we go through each day as our little ones learn to go over on the paper.) One gal brought a box with some wee wee pads when she came to board her Sunshine beagle with us .. boy did we appreciate those to hand to each person who was driving home far away with a little pup in the car..(makes it easier to have those on the floorboard than having to pit stop the minute the puppy wines to get out to go..) LOL ! we ran out, but sure would love more if anyone has some left their pet no longer uses !

When picking up your puppy by car its suggested to bring a cardboard box with papers in it or wee wee pads for the floorboards work well when and if needed . Also Clorox wipes are handy if needed too- we have some if need one !! Some folks start out with their new puppy on their lap , or in a crate with plenty of toys and chew toys or treats to play with .

We also advise folks to go directly to the spot in their yard where they want the puppy to "Go Hurry UP" right when you get home, put your puppy from the car on the grass or ground there.. let him or her sniff around and walk around so they dont just stand on your feet wanting to be picked up lol... soon enough your puppy will decide to go since they was cooped up in the car and likely hasn't gone yet.. and you make a big deal out of saying good hurry up in a praise voice !! and give them kisses ! before long learning puppy will be thinking "they must like it when i go here... I want to go back to the same spot and remark it again ... and get all that praise again!" ..

we give plenty of tips on this and all the phases involved in taking home a new puppy from us so it is a wonderful and easy transition for all members of the family as you bring in one of our babies to your home. Be sure to read through our guidance pages, follow our advice/guidelines/tips, and follow-up on any of the pointers for having one of our intelligent little sunshine acres beagles join your family as a companion for the next 15 years!

She said I love seeing who is available and when they get adopted just how perfectly they match the new family who convinced you all they would treat them the best... she said I know you have so many people wanting them, you have to try to determine who will spoil them, but give them discipline at the same time so they turn out to be the perfect indoor housepet ! - so true !!

spot in the claiming process for a future pair of pups from us to claim the boy she was smitten with ! We had had some really great families asking for him , and

were having a time deciding , but once she let us know he was going to keep her company now and help her over the loss of her boy we knew thats where

he needed to go .

Greetings from Orlando, Florida!

My seven-year-old daughter (Katie) and I would very much like to join the waiting list for a standard tri-colored female beagle puppy.

We have been talking about getting a beagle for more than TWO years and I promised Katie that as soon as I was able to move from my apartment to a single-family home, we would begin the process of adopting our very own puppy. Now, as I am less than two weeks from moving into our new home, it is time for me to start making good on that promise. It is a 1,250 square foot home with a fenced back yard with grass and lush vegetation. The puppy would have the run of the house and backyard during the day, and we would walk her in the morning and again after school and work. I'd like some time to get my household set up in the new house and probably wouldn't be ready to pick up our new puppy until mid-February at the earliest. I'm mainly writing you to be pre-approved, offer you a $100 deposit to reserve my place "in line" and get the process started.
As for my occupation, I work in sales for Walt Disney World here in Orlando. It is my responsibility to sell to groups (corporations/associations) who are interested in holding their meetings/conventions/conferences in Central Florida. I primarily sell our five convention resorts (Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Coronado Springs Resort). I have a terrific job and I love working for Disney.

after seeing how gorgeous Athena's orange pups are he decided to go with a orange boy rather than a tri girl..

we see lots of folks change to rare colored beagles once they spend a little time looking at the site and realize without the black fur to attract the suns rays in fla. a rare colored beagle can take the hot summers much better!

Jen emailed us in search of a beagle puppy for their 5 year old son.
Hubby said his father had beagles for hunting growing up, he just wanted to play with them even though his dad would get mad at him- he couldn't help it though!
They all said they love their animals and spoil them- even the tom cat that came up and has stayed as their own! Grandma says the baby will be sleepin in the bed sometimes too (after being trained to know that sleeping in his own bed is okay too- spoiling comes after training so that when being in a crate or being alone is needed in the future they are okay with it :) Grandpa also had beagles growing up, and they all know a pet beagle bred and raised for their family will be just the right buddy to grow up with!

She asked to come out during christmas to leave a deposit to hold her spot in the claiming process for a future timeframe to surprise her husband . We put her down in the line for a Tri boy or girl in April when the couple planned to be ready after making a move...

Louis stole their hearts and they became ready sooner than expected so having a deposit down and already being an approved adoptive home for a sunshine Beagle they were able to claim their favorite and go ahead and begin bonding with their new little boy now .

Athena had similar puppies and her previous litters see them on her page to see how cute her kids turn out - like "Dude " one of her rare colored cuties who went to Florida where lots of folks like Orange Beagles and the lighter colored less heat absorbing khaki and Lemons or Buff's who can stay outdoors in the hot sunshine without the black to attract the rays on their fur patern.

"I got a puppy biscuit for being good and going potty outside =) then she said we were going to wake up daddy, he's so much fun so I was glad! I licked his face and he woke right up! We played for a bit then had breakfast. Mommy said she had some friends to meet, so I got to stay home and hang out with daddy. He told me about this crazy game called football and a team he likes, the Miami Dolphins. I think they should be the Miami Beagles, but that's just me =) He let me watch sportscenter and taught me all the different names. It was fun! I was sleepy so I crawled up and took a nap with him."

Hi,

My name is Tim and our family is interested getting a new member! We got your name and info from Troy, Debbie and Lauren of Myrtle Beach, SC . They got two beagle puppies from you, Copper & Casper about 4 years ago, and we just recently dog sat for them over the holidays and fell in love.

We lost our beloved beagle Peanut in 2007, a member of our family for about 15 years and have missed him every day since.

We have two young children, Hayden age 6 and Addison age 3. They have asked and asked for a puppy but we have been waiting for Addison to be fully potty trained, which just happened in the last month or so. So we now feel we are ready for a puppy!

My wife and I have been married for 13 years this summer and we both love beagles. We have a pretty large front and back yard and have considered a fence, or invisible fence but mostly plan to walk the dog. As far as sleeping arrangements, we prefer to “crate” train the dog, but we are big softies and it will likely end up sleeping with us or the kids in bed as Peanut always did.

We own and operate 3 miniature golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area and also a family entertainment center with skating, laser tag and arcade. My wife and my mother keep the accounting records and my dad and I manage the facilities on a daily basis.

We have spent some time on your website and are mostly interested in the chocolate colored pups, specifically, Sienna’s Runt size Girl, Trina’s Chocolate Boy or Athena’s Chocolate girl.

Peanut was a full size Tri Color boy, and we were hoping for something slightly smaller and different gender or color than he was to keep his memory special. So we don’t object to tri color, but we are leaning to the other different colored ones.

Our time frame is semi flexible, but the kids are chomping at the bit and we kind of are too, we got puppy fever I think.

Recent Happy Family Activity!

Hey!
We just wanted to send a quick update on Wrigley Morehouse (from Daisy's last litter). Today Wrigley turned 6 months old! He is such a fun puppy and VERY smart. Tonight he graduated from his puppy beginner class at Petsmart. He completed his "test" like a champ! He is awesome at sit, stay, lay down, take it, leave it, drop it, come when called, cradle and massage, and even impressed his class with his "special tricks": shake and high-five! The only thing he struggles with is loose-leash walking because all he wants to do it play with the other puppies as he walks past them. We are working on this one though. Wrigley was by far the smallest puppy in his class even though he was the oldest. His buddy "Tucker" is a great dane, and his other friends "Lou" and "Abby" are both boxer girlies. They had a lot of fun together and everyone in his class is moving on to the intermediate class together in a couple weeks.

Thanks for giving us such an amazing puppy! He is a great addition to our family (definately like our little baby since we don't have any kids yet).

I have also attached Wrigley's graduation picture from tonight. He is such a cutie!!! We love him SO much!!!

mini "khaki" has found a great pet home! she hadn't had any puppies in years. Her new owner lives near the beach and had a neutered male beagle mix who needed a playmate/companion. By letting some of the adults go to great one on one homes we often get to keep a few upgrades on the line we are working to Develop. We've improved and now our khaki puppies shed less than she did and are more petite.

Raising indoor family-oriented beagle puppies for companion pet homes is a mission that requires unlimited devotion at all hours of the day and night. When one thinks of raising puppies, the focus may often rest on the privilege of cuddling such adorable babybeagles, which is an enjoyment beyond words. The magnitude, however, of properly raising these little family members from the day they enter this world to the day they are ready to enter their forever homes to begin adapting and learning the ways of their unique lifelong household is an unparalleled aspiration that has fully captivated our very lives.

The nature of our homey, family raised puppies really makes a wonderful difference as they go into responsible pet homes. We start them off right, hand raising our babies from birth, and bringing our infants into the comforted and loving family atmosphere from the start. As each puppy is born into the world, we are right there with the new mommy, comforting her and helping her along the way in our Whelping Room/ Nursery room which we had built 5 year ago as an addition to our new home on acreage woods.

As a mom and two kids, we have worked hard all of our lives towards our dreams for Sunshine Acres, and have come a long way over the years and are proud of what we have accomplished. Building the whelping nursery room was definitely a major help in our efforts, whereas before moms had their puppies in our bathroom floor, now they have their own areas inside with automatic waterers and doggy doors to go outside and get exercise as they please, helping the production of milk for their babies. The newborns have comfy sheets that rest upon warm heating pads, beneath the comforting glow of heating lamps which can be turned on or off as needed. These first two weeks consists primarily of nursing & sleeping, and we are cooking up plenty of nutrient rich, milk-producing treats and food for mom to eat while constantly nursing & taking care of their newborns. We make watching over (and snuggling!) the newborns our number one priority during this crucial time. Throughout each and every day we pick up our puppies, cuddle them, and talk to them. We truly believe they can hear us even during those infant days; their eyes may be closed those first 2 weeks of life, but those ears are often seen perking up at our voice, an always enchanting sight to see.

As they open their eyes around 2 weeks old, this time when we hold them, they can see who we are! They stare with those big, innocent eyes and have this look on their face as though they are thinking “It’s you, I know you, wow…” They are just taking it all in and connecting the dots, remembering our touch from their first weeks of life. It’s the most amazing thing to see, and such an honor to be a part of.

That 3rd week with newly opened eyes, the puppies are getting up, interacting with each other and learning even more about gentle human contact. They have been handled and spoken to from birth, and once their eyes open they can begin learning from their human caregivers.

Teeth start coming in at 3 weeks, and over the week mommies begin spending less and less time constantly tending to the puppies & cleaning up after them. The puppies start eating canned Eukanuba &/or Iams Puppy food for a few days, then with dry Small Breed Puppy mixed in, until finally learning to eat just the dry kibble and drink water versus momma's milk. We introduce them to their toys, and consistently remind them that their toys are good to chew on and play with. During this time they have begun socializing, and focusing on their human caregivers rather than mother Dog for all their needs, and learn to look to humans for both love and instruction.

By the time they leave our home & hands, she is out of the picture, making for a much easier transition to life in a human family.

We begin the babies on learning to use paper, and keep their bed clean. When they go onto the paper to go, we say “hurry up” so they can begin associating that word with go to the bathroom, making for easier potty breaks in the future if consistently used in their new home. We place a clean sheet of newspaper over where they went, and the next time the go onto the paper they will walk over that area and then be able to smell where they had gone previously. Since dogs are scent triggered, they will know they are to go there again for hurry-ups. Then we periodically clean out the whole setup and start over with fresh paper and bed so that the room is always pleasant smelling!

We give our puppies de-wormer at 2 weeks old, and do so routinely every 2 weeks- worms & eggs can be easily picked up in the soil by any dog anywhere and the whole process can start all over, so we give it regardless of whether they have them or not. We like to do the puppies’ shots in front of their new owner, and put the label off of the vial onto the health records so that the customer can tell their vet that they saw the shot done and won’t be forced to repeat that shot for a fee, which some vets do on the basis that many breeders say they do shots but didn’t. Therefore we like to do it in front of the person so folks know it was done, and can more easily avoid that unnecessary expense. The label also shows exactly what is in the shots so the vet can see what has been given.

We tend to our puppies’ needs with all our time, guidance, & the best we can offer, just as we expect from the devoted pet homes they go into, once they're ready to bond & begin learning about their forever pack’s order. At this innocent yet attentive homecoming stage, they are eager to learn from everything around them, and they absorb interaction like a sponge, making it one of the best times to introduce them to lifelong habits.

As puppies develop, they will seek masters who can show them the right way to living a long healthy & happy lifestyle, and they trust following those masters who prove to make the best decisions for the pack as a whole, therefore it is important for the forever family to guide their adaptation to the unique home & lifestyle, so the puppy can more easily understand that this human pack has boundaries for a reason- for the good of the pack, and can learn what they need to do to fit in & start living in harmony!

From their first day home they will begin learning the best way to fit into their unique pack, and can adapt to any lifestyle that they begin learning from. This is the time to guide their adaptation; Be a responsible master for your learning and growing puppy by understanding each situation, responding correctly so that your puppy understands the pack lesson, & committing to a responsible instruction plan. We hand raise our baby beagles in our home, not in cages like many breeders...

We don't use wire floor pens off the ground, or boring and monotonous cement floor kennel runs with chain link fences, or like other breeders do...

WE believe this is why our pups are well socialized with children,
and other animals to fit into family life & a great pet lifestyle!

dogs raised in cages, or kennel runs, are not often handled and can be nervous, and uneasy with new people or animals.

When you purchase a Sunshine acres beagle puppy, you receive a new puppy care package from the Iams and Eukanuba company with a book on what to do for your new family member, a bag of the food they have been eating, a health folder with the pups health records showing shots, including the labels off the shot vials, de-wormings, and vet follow-up dates. Current shot series done, health folders provided. We provide proof of shots vs most local breeders who don't. This saves you having to repeat those vet visits for shots and wormings.

If you hadn't already sent your own choice of toys for your new family member to enjoy while growing up here, we often include toys, greenies or rawhide chews as we have them if you'd like, so that they have something familiar to play with. You are welcome to bring a blanket, or toy to rub on the littermates or send something to go in with the litter to take home with their scent, so the first night away from home isn't so hard.

Dewclaws are removed whenever possible, to make nail cutting easier. Already started going on paper and outside, and used to being around the family indoors vs cheap caged pups from local hunters. Easy to keep new puppy in a bath floor or laundry room etc. less shedding coats, less bathing required, no hound odors. Less exercise required when from show champ, and indoor companion dogs than our competitors Hunting hound variety who want to get out and use their noses to track animals..

Our pups are kid cuddled cuties from AKC show champion bloodline origins, not caged hunting stock. That results in a Big difference in desire to stay home with the family. The majority of our customers have had a beagle growing up or had one in recent years and most who have had the hunting variety don't want to repeat that mistake and recognize the difference.

All our adult dogs & ancestors are American Kennel Club registered so you know they come from Purebred Pedigreed Parents. We provide copies of both parents/ancestor's papers to our customers to verify this. In order to avoid other breeders from trying to purchase and use our pet only puppies in their breeding programs we do not individually register the litters. We do not sell our pets to hunters or breeders, only pet homes, so our dogs are DNA tested to prevent breeding of our very special less shedding and rare colored house pets. Even having one litter by one of our Sunshine Acres Beagles is not allowed, and we will not make exceptions or grant individuals registration of their puppy in order to do this.

Our sincere wish is that each one of our babies just be a spoiled pampered house pet in a Loving family home!

(All our Adult Dogs we own, and have purchased for selective breeding have always been pure bred AKC Registered Beagles over the past 16 years, in the development of our Sunshine Acres Beagle Indoor raised family Pet bloodline. )

In the event the mother or father of a litter came from the breeding of two registered parents and their pups were not registered we will be happy to provide the grandparents papers to show they are from purebred beagle ancestors. the papers arent why our customers buy their family pet from us... the many hours we spend with their future family member, and the years of selective breeding to achieve the best coats, and temperaments and desireable qualities for indoor companionship are what make our puppies so special folks come back for more !

Other beagle breeders in our area dont have pups during the cold months due to the fact that their dogs are out in cages up off the ground and its nearly impossible to heat those open cages for newborns to survive outside the way they raise pups in wire boxes vs indoors, like we raise our baby beagles on heated whelping areas with heat lamps in the ceiling above for warmth.

our moms get a whelping area with a doggie door that allows them to go out when they like they have automatic water so its always fresh, and as the puppies get old enough we move them away from mom for short periods onto paper in a low box with a bed and toys on one side..

Daisy raises her newborn puppies, and as they grow they begin going on paper vs bedding, eating dry food, and she begins spending less and less time in with them and they begin focusing on their human caregivers!

	Some families have gone home and made their own box from wood, to be able to have their pup in the main room with them at first when they bring it home... this is a great idea ! Especially if your family is waiting to take one home .. there is time to locate everything and make it.. one family said it was a nice family project to make while they waited on their choice to be old enough to come stay in it !!	ok, I know , I know... My favorite "Grace" likes to be in all the pictures she can... LOL !! especially since she and I are constantly doing things together.. she is such a great companion ... going everywhere i go from room to room !

a bathtub also works well... just so they have a choice of bed, or go onto paper ... we pick them up as youngsters and put them on the paper so they learn to go after naps, and food, or water... within 5-10 min. a pup will need to go... then as they learn this they spend less and less time with their mom until they are weaned from her. Once this is accomplished they move to a higher oak box, or tub, and spend some time alone, and with other pups ...to socialize them.

this is the easy way to housebreak a new pup. when you have time take them outdoors too, and soon they are going to the door to go out..

I met with a couple recently who said they wanted one of our puppies because of the previous beagle they got from a hunter... they told us it was so hard to housebreak it took a year and then wasnt trustworthy , they too felt it was the wire floors when they are learning to go that made it not see the reprecusions of going where you sleep... it just drops through.. no labor involved for the hunter/breeder who raised it that way , but alot more work for the new family teaching it manners and cleanliness in the home !

The root of our bloodline begins up in the North West Show Champion and Companion Dog Titled CDX winners. not bred for these abilities.

Not too long ago I had a call from a retired couple who had called at a time when we were sold out of puppies last summer. they decided not to wait on our next litter and purchased one of the many pups advertised in Mooresville by a breeder who was thrown out of AKC. He now not only raises some of his hunting stock pups for his hunting purposes, but has puppy mills in the mountains where he purchases pups they bring entire litters to him weekly to resell in the Charlotte market. His ad is on a reduced rate with the observer since he has one at just about all times. It says "super pretty" about every litter.

Most of which he has for only days before selling to the pet market.

A lady who had gone to look at his pups years ago told us when she asked about the mom to the litter he got out a scrawny old female and the second he set her down on the ground she lit off for the woods behind his kennel like a flash. the lady said I didn't get to see anything but her tail going into the brush to hunt!! ha!

He provides no health folder w/ proof of shots, worming or vet checkups, no papers and certainly no follow up to those with questions or requests for referrals. I have over the past few years talked to many of his customers who have made the mistake of going for the cheapest beagle pup advertised.. and just like this couple they find out later the dog is miserable being inside and wants nothing more than to climb over their fence or dig under it as this couple reported...to get out to the nearby woods. The man asked if I knew of anyone who would want his year old beagle male now ..he described how it walks back and forth at the sliding glass door crying to go out... constantly no matter how much they try to spend time with him in the house.. once let out he knows exactly where the squirrels are in the trees and once they jump to a tree outside the yard the dog goes nuts pacing back and forth at the rear of their 2 acre fenced in yard.. he said " he can climb right over just like your web site says...
I remember you telling my wife the hunters had a climbing gear and we didn't get it ..till now."

"what can we do, we have raised him inside and he's not happy! we don't want to give him to a hunter to put our boy in a cage, but he is too much work for us to keep chasing.. I wish we had listened to you then. can you help us find a home where he can be. He is blue ticked, meaning so many spots you cant see his white legs.. (big time hunting instinct dogs) he is crate trained, someone will want him wont they?, we just want to start over and get one of yours like some friends of ours did.. that is the nicest house pet he goes out to do his business and play and comes right back when the owner calls. "

I said what can I say, I told you so.. you aren't the first with this problem and wont be the last, as long as hunters don't care who they sell to. I have customers who value their time and want indoor companions THEY don't want to be off in the neighborhood chasing this dog either. If I found him a home he would just do the same thing to the next home. I can only talk to some of the hunters I know to see if one will take him. I did locate a home for him with one. We do some rescue work with beagles who get out and get lost on occasion so they wont end up at the pound , get adopted by a family as a pet and go through the escaping over and over with new adoptive families..

Imagine buying a beagle puppy that has been raised in a wire floored cage like this.... they are very difficult to house train since from birth they never learned what happens if they "go" where they sleep etc.... in a wire cage it falls thru the floor . much less they haven't been held or cuddled daily like ours !!
so often they are skittish and haven't been socialized with other dogs or kids. (these cages are needed though to keep the adult dogs at home , the instinct to get loose and track animals is bred into them)

I stopped at a hunting supply store a while back where they used to sell lots of beagle puppies to the public they told me they now just sell the supplies to other hunter's .... she got out of selling the puppies since people wanted pets and complained when their puppies grew up to be unhappy in their homes and neighborhood yards and would dig out or climb out to go off to the woods. Below is the fencing they used to contain the young beagle hound pups they would "Start" ... this is the term used for starting them learning to hunt rabbits.

After seeing which ones had the technique-(loudest baye ,so he can be found eaisly, most desire to track and scent after prey- rabbits that are raised to be let out in the fenced area to chase down..etc.) they wanted the rest would go in the paper and be sold off to unsuspecting pet homes...how do you keep one who wants to hunt already, happy in the house?? Much less they learn to dig under or go over your fenced in yard to head off to the nearest woods... oh there is a big busy rd. out there too, but they still try to make it...over and over...

Here is how the Hunters must contain these pups and adults so they can work with them..

This fencing has electric wire shock , and barbed wire along the top to keep them in !! and there was Two rows in case the pups managed to get out of the first fence the second would stop them from heading to the fields and woods nearby.. wow ... They may be cheaper puppies to start with , but over the 10 to 15 years you own your pet.... do you really think its worth the difference ,,, having to work to keep a dog home who doesn't want to ?? Ever wonder why there are so many hunting hounds in the area they have beagle rescues for those who are turned in by owners who cant handle the escaping any more and the constant drive to find animals outside their owners yards, or those who make it out into the big world and dont make it back home, before someone finds them, and takes them to be adopted into a new nightmare for the next person.

Why not just start with one bred to be a Homebody housepet variety beagle ?

Started in the tub our pups are easy to train when you have time ...they can be taken outside at the same time as going on paper without confusing them, you know that after meals , water , naptime, or playtime.. they will need to either be put on their paper confined area, or taken to the grassy area you have chosen for them.....pick one area of the yard to go to and take them there each time at first ...

they can learn paper is when you are busy, and outside is when you can take them for a walk..

Starting with a puppy raised in a cage like other breeders do it in the section above, is more difficult..
You must take it outside whenever it needs to go ! It hasnt used paper before ...

Even though your family has no plans to show- the fact that the pups are out of show dogs back in their ancestry means, your puppy won't display the instincts of a field trial beagle, hunting, howling, the hound odors, and worst of all escaping your home and yard to go track prey, rather they have been raised as family companions for many years inside the home with no emphasis placed on tracking ability or instinct in the breeding, and will be loyal loving lap dogs, not howling hunting dogs.

The beloved beagle breed is known for their well-rounded, traits making an engaging , and therefore many families seek to add a beagle to their household to lead a pet-only lifestyle. The luxurious coats of our uniquely bred pet-line are well suited for indoor residence. The sporting beagles' standard was set originally to have a courser coat, intended to move the breed towards the purpose of the hunt, to break off easily in the brambles when on the scent's trail. Since our beagles are not intended for hunting purposes, we have worked on improving the coats generation after generation and have created a softer coat in our bloodline. We also have developed many specially less shedding coats, particularly in our rare color beagles, such as khakis, chocolates, silvers and oranges, and sometimes even the tricolors as well. Families with allergies have rejoiced in being able to add a rare colored lapdog to their lives. " Snicket is almost 7 months old now and she is doing so well! She has learned a few tricks like sit, laydown, roll over, and high five! She learned them all in just a few minutes too, shes a very smart little girl. The last time I took her in for a vet visit the vet asked where I got her and said that you all make really great pets! She is as healthy as a horse too! I have never had a puppy quite like her. She is such a cuddler and always wants to be close to me (she is currently snoozing under my knees while I write this!) and we love to take naps together! But she loves to play too and is always ready to go play with her friends at the dog park, but of course, she has to make the rounds with all the people before she says hello to the other dogs. She is so friendly Im glad I wasnt in the market for a watchdog (although she does like to bark at the dogs on tv)!!

Everyone who meets her comments to me about how beautiful she is and how luxurious her coat is. When I tell people she is nearly full grown at 15 pounds I always get oohs and ahhs at her perfect little size :) She is happy, healthy, and such a lover! She just loves to give kisses and loves to be held. I have never seen another dog that relishes being held the way she does!

Our Companion beagles come in many unique looks, matching special desires of different forever homes! We have the standard tricolor beagles, alongside many stunning colors, and various sizes- from jogging companions to easy to tote lapdog sizes.
The price of each puppy reflects its special characteristics of Color and Size.

Colors include the traditional black tan & white Tricolor, as well as the more rare colors Chocolate & white, Orange & white, and the very unique Silver & white, and Khaki & white.( these are highly prized especially since they most often tend to have shorter fur and shed less overall, and have less beagle tendancies like tracking ability and in some cases khaki beagles have been known to not bark ... a vast difference than the normal bloodline of tri color beagle that barks along a scent and wakes the neighborhood :) !

Sizes include Standard, Runts (petite/slim build), Minis(overall shorter/smaller), and sometimes Nanos(the tiniest!)!

The Beagle Lingo

Refer to this Quick Glossary so you can know the beagle-lingo, & understand what we mean when we describe a puppy on the website!

Markings - Sizes - Color - Extra

Markings:

Blaze: The Blaze is ther white vertical Stripe between the eyes.

Solid Head: Having a solid head means the dog does not have a white blaze on the face. They may still have white around the muzzle

Open Marking: A dog is open marked when they have lots of white markings & designs on the back, rather than just the traditional black saddle back.

Bandana: A banadana is the white around the back of their neck. It looks like they are wearing a white bandana around their neck!

Sizes:

Standard Size: Regular size puppies born to a Standard Mother.
Adult Standards are 13" -15" to the dog's shoulders. A small standard is closer to shorter 13", while a large standard is the longer legged 15".
Weight varies, most of our adult standards are around 19-27 lbs.

Runt Size: The shorter or more petite puppies in a standard mom's litter. Or, all the puppies born to a Runt-Sized mother.
Runt sized puppies usually have a good chance of becoming a Mini sized adult, or a petite small standard.

Mini Size: Puppies are considered to be Mini when the litter is born to a Mini sized Mother, or they are the smaller sized puppies from a Runt sized mother's litter.
Adult Mini sizes are 12" and under to the shoulders. Weight varies, often influenced by diet growing up. Most of our mini adults are 14-19 lbs

Nano size: Exceptionally tiny puppies, usually receive extra attention or supervision to be sure the bigger puppies don't push them out of the way.
We care about each puppy's health, so we take the time to guide each one & make sure that none of our newborns struggle for milk.
Our Nanos are usually the Runt of a Mini sized litter, or born to a Nano Sized mother. They are less common, so for waiting's sake, its good to be open to mini size as a preference as well.

Colors:

Tricolor: The Traditional Beagle look- Black red & white (newborns start black & white)

Chocolate: Rich Brown and white. Often these can be the less shedding version of our luxurious coats!

Orange: Vibrant Orange and white. Often they have eyeliner, and sometimes oranges are less shedding.

Silver: A silver or gun metal steel color. Many of these are the less shedding variety. Their color can deeped as they grow

Khaki: Khaki & white. Just like your khaki pants! The lighter greyish brownish color. Almost all of these are the least shedding variety, and are Miss C's favorites!

Extra:

Litter: A litter is the group of puppies a mother has had.

Newborn: A newborn puppy will begin its first 2 weeks of life with its eyes closed, and those 2 weeks will consist of constant nursing, snuggling, and sleeping.
Most all Tricolor newborns will start off with only Black & White colors, and will later develop their red/tan coloring on their head and shoulder.
Many Orange newborns start off with black hues mixed in, and will lose this black as they grow, and develop into a rich Orange color.

Available: Puppies are sometimes announced as Available, which enables new interests to ask about being considered for approval as an appropriate match to adopt that puppy. We first consider the matches within our pre-approved waiting list, and if there is no one left in line ready for a puppy and matching that puppy's Color, Size, Gender, Coming Home Timeframe, markings or other preferences, then we can consider new potential homes for these puppies to go into.

Possible Match: A puppy has possible matches when we have already approved a family or families for the waiting list, and their preferences match that puppy's characteristics. They may or may not choose to claim the puppy, based on personal adoration, added preferences such as markings, or most commonly a delayed acceptable timeframe for welcoming a puppy into their household.

Claimed: A puppy is announced as being claimed when they have been reserved by deposit for someone. They are no longer available to the public, and are under our care until they are ready to enter their forever home. Families of claimed puppies watch the website to see updates of their puppy growing up in our home.

Colors:

Traditional Tricolor (Black/White/ & Red)
the traditional look . Some come with a Saddle back of black and tan or red sholders and head. others have white areas around their necks , or in big spots etc on their back breaking up the saddle look.
( these typically have a longer fur and more course coat that comes out since they have been bred as hunting dogs for many many years and this helps them break away in the bushes and brambles chasing after rabbits.) Many people think this is what a beagle looks like and only after seeing the nicer fur and less interest in tracking do they consider a rare colored beagle as an option instead.
Rare colors: Chocolates, Oranges, Red, Lemon..
chocolates and oranges tend to shed less than lemons in our experience . We have tried to include lemon bloodlines from other breeders lines several times and been disappointed at the amount of fur they loose daily and chosen not to bred into our sunshine beagle line. ( we rarely have true lemons so the wait could be long we suggest also including another color as well as an option when asking ) Rare colored beagles tend to draw attention and folks tell us they are fun because people come up and want to know about such a unique dog , singles love them since they are a conversation starter :) and your never alone when you have a beautiful dog to walk with... friendly people come up and greet you !
Unique Colors: Khakis, & Silvers
these are Miss Christina's favorites . They show less interest in being a dog and more in being a fury child who adores going where you go !
over the years the coats have gotten shorter and in some cases they seem like a duck, water pours off them . they loose seasonal coats but not the amount of fur a tri colored beagle does by far. Only one khaki beagle in our 22 years of breeding beagles has shown any interest in using her nose to track and we retired her so as to not keep any offspring that would be interested in animals in our khaki line of housepet beagles. Many people say they are easier to train and smarter , we think they just listen because they are more focussed on the humans than their hound relatives.

The traditional Beagle Look

When people say "Tri-color", they are referring to the typical beagle's look: Black, White, and Red. Black on the back, which is often called a "saddle", and Heads and shoulders become red/brownish/tan when they grow up.

Tricolor puppies generally all start off just Black & White
As they grow, the red/tan color found on adult tricolors starts to come through, gradually replacing the black found on their heads & usually shoulders & haunches too. The white pretty much stays how it is.

Once they are an adult, their color has transformed from the 2 colors only (black & white), to the common 3 colors (black/red/white).

At a month old, Gracie lays in our hallway here at home, before heading to her new home.

The color has started to come in on her face around her eyes, but has yet to spread back up over her head, as well as her shoulders.

All Beagles can either have a 'blaze', or have a 'solid head' (no blaze).

A Blaze is the white vertical stripe between the eyes, coming up from the muzzle, and can be all sizes. Some people may have a preference towards having a blaze or solid head, while others may find both to be equally cute! (If you prefer to specifically find one or the other, you are welcome to specify this)

LARGER STANDARD BEAGLES CAN BE 15 INCHES OR LESS to the top of the sholder.

OUR SMALLER STANDARD BEAGLES ARE 13-14 INCHES & UNDER, (the majority of our beagles)
Standards usually weigh 20-25 lbs, and larger ones 25-45 lbs.
(Our Standard Sunshine Acres Beagles usually only reach up to around 19-27 lbs, depending on the mother)

AND OUR MINIS ARE 12 INCHES AND UNDER to the top of the sholder.
Minis often weigh somewhere between 14-19 lbs, (of course it is possible to overfeed & have a short & chubby mini :) a mini is determined by leg height rather than an easy-to-vary weight which can depend on feeding more than genetics in some cases.

The shorter, rare colored fur often sheds much less than a typical tri colored beagle's coat, and they can tolerate the heat of being out in the sunshine much better also. Since it isn't Black it doesn't attract the sun's rays as much.. We have often noted the tri colored dogs laying in the shade in the hottest part of summer, while many of our khaki dogs like sun bathing and will lay right in the grass not bothered as much by the heat.

Most often our Khakis & Chocolates are typically the least shedding, followed by certain oranges & silvers, and even some tricolors- depending on ancestor's coats (sometimes having a less shedding mommy, like a khaki mom can influence even a tricolor offspring's coat. We have been gradually seeing more of our Tricolors possess this coveted short haired, less shedding coat! Like Future breeding prospects "Shug", and "Morgan, have this wonderful hypo-allergenic sleek & shot hair coat

Our Chocolates are all beautiful brown and white color. Their classy shade may vary from a lighter chocolate to a dark chocolate, most usually at a rich medium. Their Heads can turn lighter brown when grown, but not always. They, as well as khakis, can tend to have the least shedding coats.

Our Orange Beagles

Our Orange beagles are such vibrant beauties!

Their heads typically stay the same color as the rest of their body. Sometimes an orange may start off with some black in the orange on their face, ears, or down their back as a newborn, but then develop to their bright/rich orange as they wean and grow, losing any black on their body, like a tricolor would lose on his head.

They are pretty much only 2 colors when grown- Orange & White

This girl started off with a darker red color, but will grow into a deep orange. Many of our orange beagles start off with black mixed in, and as they develop they lose the black and become a rich orange.

Orange Girl as a Newborn ("Luci Lu", daughter of "Tracy") Many Oranges start off with black mixed in, and the black gradually disappears as they grow. Her color has really transformed thus far- what a beauty! She just has a little left to go...

"Hi Ms. Christina, Christi & Cody,
Just thought I would send another update about our little "Luci Lu" as she has become known. She is just wonderful! She has really settled into life here at the Rhodes house & I don't know what we ever did without her. She is loved by all everywhere we go & is very social. She has basically doubled in size & can finally wear the collar we bought for her before we saw how tiny she was. She is really a beautiful girl & wears her eyeliner thick as you like to say at Sunshine Acres. She is still a great snuggler & seems happiest when in our arms. We just made a trip to Myrtle Beach to visit my parents & she did soooooo good in the car. We only stopped one time on the way down & she slept the entire way home. For a 5 hour trip I find that pretty impressive. I have attached a few pic's from our recent trip to the beach & some with her playing with her pal Murphy. Thanks again for such a great addition to our family & I will continue to send pictures as she grows. (I have to confess I still check the website to see the puppies, it truly is addicting) Cari :o)"

Our unique and luxurious khaki coats are mom's favorites!

They typically have the softest and least shedding coats.

These yuppie puppies are basically like a pair of khaki pants, or like the the beige/khaki couch that they love to match so much! Lighter than the silver, they generally look the same from puppyhood, to an adult, only developing a richer true khaki color as opposed to the more light gray or buff like color coats they start with as a newborn.
As an adult, their heads can be a brighter shade, Like Grace below.

A lot of Khakis and Chocolates, plus Silvers start off with blue eyes, and may or may not keep them, often turning to a lighter greenish blueish hazel color, or a little like a hint of khaki color, like Grace has.
(sometimes oranges are born with 'um too, and occasionally the tris too. Of course, when choosing your pup it can't be based on eye coloring, because there is no way to absolutely predict their final eye color as an adult)

Silver & white

Our sweet silvers are compareable to a stainless-steel to gun metal steel range of colors, most starting off at the lighter stainless color transforming into the gunmetal steel.
The silver's head will usually mostly turn tan/ khaki color that you can already see coming through on some of these guy's faces, while the body can be a darker silver.

We feel khaki pups are very special. Not only do some have much, much less shedding fur, most are extra intelligent, and have no interest in tracking animals.
(Also, over the years we have even had 4 khaki adults who have not been able to bark! This is of great interest to us in our pursuit of the best possible pet beagles we can create thru selective breeding for family pets ! These dogs would make the motion of a bark on occassion, but almost no noise would come out, we are currently keeping 3 puppies in khaki to work on this genetic possibility, all these pups have an odd soft bark like the predicessors. This is not a developed genetic trait though, so generally your khaki beagle would still have a normal sounding bark to let you know if someone comes up in the yard till you tell them its okay & not a burgular!

Sunshine Acres Beagles

Below are Examples of the different sizes ..
Note: The determining factor between mini & standard adult is height to the shoulders. Build can vary, but most of these beagles do not have big-boned body structures.

(A Standard size example, this is the couch potato puppy shown further up in the Tricolor standard pricing section, laying with a movie & a toy!) now full grown. still a great indoor dog sized housepet. You dont have to get a mini to have an indoor companion beagle.

Standard-Size:
Larger STANDARD BEAGLES can be up to 15 INCHES & under to the top of the sholder.
and Smaller STANDARD BEAGLES ARE AROUND 13-14 INCHES tall
Many of our standards are on the Smaller side, with the exception of few for those looking for larger ones.
Typical Beagles usually weigh around 20-25 lbs, and larger ones 25-45 lbs.
Our Standard Sized Sunshine Acres Beagles usually only reach up to weighing around 19-27 lbs.

Mini-Size:
MINI BEAGLES ARE 12 INCHES & UNDER (Under 13 inches to the shoulders)
Most of the Minis usually weigh around 14-19 lbs .
(Note: of course it is possible to overfeed a beagle & have a short & chubby mini! So be careful about how much you feed their little bellies during their growing stage- beagles can be known to over eat ;)
What we have coined as "Nano Mini"s are the exceptionally smallest puppies- such as the Runt of a Mini Litter.
They all grow up to be just as playful, loving, & wonderful as any other sunshine beagle, just in various sizes!

Our Standard size beagles are a great size, when families come to our house, we have even had people ask us if our standard size doggies out front were minis, and they were surprised when we said no, that's a standard! Standard Beagles still come in small & petite sizes to sit on your lap, but not too short so you don't step on them, as one customer said! (most ours also tend to have the less bulky body structure found in some other lines, & are without the big 'barrel chests' some other beagles have.)
A mini Beagle is not like getting a Chihuahua though! It is still very much a beagle, but overall is somewhat smaller than the standard size beagles - particularly in height & typically body length & overall structure.
Some folks think Minis as pups are almost too small and seem breakable so they opt for standard sized pups so they dont have to worry about stepping on the tiny pet underfoot, or their young children carrying around such a fragile puppy !!
Some other folks, especially those with bad backs, love the mini sizes though because they are easier for them to pick up & carry around if they so wish, like Miss Christina who carries her beloved Grace around everywhere easily even with her bad back (One reason Jake helps us all out around here! Sometimes there is just too much for mom to do, particularly with all the Iams & Eukanuba bags we go through, so a helping hand is greatly appreciated!)
Grace shows all those wonderful traits we selectively breed for in all our beagles, just in a smaller compact size !
(She is calm & content hanging out in the house with us, sitting in laps to watch tv, laying in chairs like a person, etc. yet when she sees the mood of the household has turned to playful time, she is right there ready to jump into the action- particularly when it comes to zooming around our backyard playing tag up & down the hill & on the logs with our boarding dogs- aka her "play-dates!" lol)

Standards

At around 13- 15 inches tall, standard size sunshine acres beagles are great additions to your indoor life & wonderful companions.
Most are a more slimmer &/or athletic build, rather than the big barrel-chested type of beagles.

Here she is hanging out in the house, meanwhile her puppies were gradually weaning. she has retired into a great family who already had one of our beagles to be his playmate.

You are welcome to mention specific desires, such as asking for our help to
choose out an on-the- larger -side standard size or an on-the- smaller -side standard,
depending on what you are looking for in your new friend!

	Some people prefer the Larger Standards/ ones with longer legs so that they can be their daily jogging companion, or so they can keep up walking with a longer legged person!

when someone comes out to meet their new baby at a younger age we like for them to get a chance to meet mom too, by the time the puppy is weaned from mom and hasnt seen her in days we prefer not to bring her out , since then the puppy is confused by the scent of mother and begins to miss her again all over... we take the first worst nights of being separated from momma doggie and that makes it much easier on the new family not being there the day they leave the mother.. but rather after several days apart so they are over it, and will just possibly miss sibblings, or us.. but that's not nearly as hard on them, as the initial separation from her warmth,and milk on call... !

About a Runt
(mini-size Smallest pups ariving in Standard litters)

Runt puppies can often turn out to be the same size as mini adults (like our Grace- she is 11" tall, but was a runt out of standard parents.
A runt in standard litter is determined as such because they were smaller &/or more petite than the standard size littermates.
In these cases we often must step in and specially hand raise these babies to be sure that the runt nurses, since the little one is being surrounded by bigger siblings who can win out when it comes to being the one that gets to attach & nurse, so price also reflects the fact that we must devote considerably more time and family attention the little ones.
Minis sometimes need help to nurse with their smaller legs too, especially a runt of a mini litter, (which could be categorized as our occasionally seen rare & special nano-beagles!) Nursing is usually done with a method of pushing with the legs to get the flow started & bring forth momma's milk.

A runt's size may have taken after an ancestor's mini gene- or just like people sometimes there is just a smaller family member, not necessarily because the parents are, & there is some chance that if overfed runts could possibly grow up and nearly catch up with their littermates’ height, whereas minis you should have a better probability of them genetically staying shorter, and smaller as long as they're fed carefully. (Beagles can over-eat if given too much.)

Adult Minis are 12" and under to the shoulders.
Over the years we have done selective breeding with our beagles to improve the beagle breed to be all-around perfect housepets! We have also acheived a smaller & smaller size, meanwhile putting the quality of our pets first. Having a well-rounded great pet is our primary concern, and having one in the size preferred by some would of course come secondary.
Our miniature size beagles simply have gentically shorter legs, & bodies and when we breed for a smaller size companion beagle, we do not concentrate our attention on size alone. The quality of health, fur & temperment of our pure bred Sunshine Acres Beagles is never sacrificed to achieve a desirable size.
Our priority & primary mission is to produce an all around great companion homebody, & upgrading in all the right places!

Mini litters are typically distinguished as mini based on their mom's height- being a mini the puppy is likely to take after their short legged 12" or under mini sized parent, whereas a runt is simply the smallest or most petite of a standard size litter.

Minis can have petite frames, but it varies- we see short and chubby minis, as well as short and petite minis (often depending on carefully feeding a mini's smaller size & intake, careful usless you want a short piglet !).

Basically a mini means that the puppy's genes were created with a bias towards having shorter legs by taking after a parent with short genes, and this usually means a shorter body length too (from chest to haunches), smaller head size & typically bone structure (some have

The Olde English Pocket Beagles were a breed of beagle that English fox hunters were known to carry with them in the oversized pockets of their big coats &/or saddle bags.
Many Breeders of what has been referred to as Pocket Beagles don't actually have ties to those original fox hunting companions, but the catchy phrase 'pocket beagle' is favored by many people so its still commonly used to describe small beagles.
In some cases, there are breeders of acclaimed "pocket beagles" that have been known to mix in others breeds like jack russel, or dachsund into their lines in order to acquire the smaller size, (which subsequently would also incorporate the personality of a jack russel into the so-called pocket 'beagle'!)

We have developed, and continue to develop our line of pure bred miniature beagles over the years by selectively keeping the special cuties that meet all the great qualities we look for, while also having shorter legs & build. miss C decided we'd name our great lapdog smaller sized beagles "Mini Beagles". Back then, we mostly heard talk of others selling 'pocket beagles', however we notice others have begun to use this term as well to describe their smaller beagles.

Unfortunately there is no way of being absolutely certain that a puppy will be mini, usually the pups take after their mother or father, and if they are mini, the puppies most often are as well.
(Mini moms sometimes have trouble having a litter, and in these cases a c-section is needed,
mini moms also have smaller litters, often only one or two puppies are born.)

We cannot guarantee size, just as there can be one child in a family who is taller than the other kids to the same parents.
Our prices are a reflection of our unlimited time & devotion to the little newborns night and day in many cases just to be sure the tiniest ones are not pushed off by the larger more strong littermates. Also due to the difficulty in raising puppies born to mini sized moms, the cost of c-sections, and the small number of puppies born to tiny mothers. (By the time we pay for 1k plus c-sections, if the mother has only one, or two pups in the litter, we often barely break even). That is why so few breeders are doing mini beagles, their bigger moms can have as many as 9-13 pups with no trouble. Our smaller standard beagles average around 5 in a litter, and mini moms have 2-4 in their litters usually, (but when others are breeding for quanity rather than quality, for those breeders it's actually more profitable and a lot less work & stress for them. so size doesnt matter to them... ) even breeding can be a very difficult undertaking (that's the only thing we've seen in all these years where being on the shorter side doesn't help.. lol.)

Consider your needs if choosing between minis and standards. If you are in the position to purchase a mini rather than bringing home a standard, because you need the smallest sunshine acres beagle possible, that's fine. However if you are undecided about bringing a mini vs standard into the home, (or even if finances to afford the purchase is an issue) consider whether a mini is really what you want & need.
Most of our standard size beagles are not large dogs anyway, and are a fantastic size for an indoor companion, and can just as easily have the petite frame most people would associate with 'mini's, even weighing around the same as a mini in some cases ... the primary distinguishing factor is mainly leg length / height to the shoulders. Our standards usually range from estimated weight of between 17 - 27 lbs, often depending on their momma's size. We generally have smaller sized standards, medium standards, and sometimes the longer legs &/or the larger than most of our other typical standards, which we call a larger standard (but doesn't necessarily mean larger weight, depends on body build and good diet). (small 13" & under.. medium 14".. larger 15"..)
If you are into jogging- you'd likely want to go with a standard, so their longer legs can keep up with you. If you are just looking for a petite dog, be sure not to confuse being petite with being a mini. We have had people ask for minis in the past, yet describe to us that they want longer legs for a jogging companion. This would mean they are actually looking for a Standard size beagle, with a preferably petite/slim build . (like one of our mommas Punkin. Her waistline is slim & tucked and her legs are longer than our other beagles tend to have.)

For some, a mini is the perfect solution to their situation, and for others, either size would fit in just perfectly with their home life. If you find that really any of our sizes would work for you & can't really narrow it down, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

(these also tend to often have less shedding coats than a tri color beagle. As do some chocolates and orange and white pups depending on the Ancestors)

Grace is a mini-size khaki runt. She was born to a standard mom, but was a runt, and is the size of a typical mini.

Little man shows the size difference is mainly length of the legs and body, but a mini is not as small as a Chihuahua, or tiny dog, they are still like a beagle just smaller overall.
Most folks are happy with a medium size beagle. Beamer was a large size beagle. His owner likes his longer legs since the two jog 10 Miles a day !!

Also Beamer weighs around 40 lbs. vs. our mini male Little Man who weighs around 14.

we kept both cuties... she has been retired now but she was one of our special barkless khaki beagles , over the years we have had several who do the motion but nothing comes out when they try to bark !! neato !! her son "Shoreline" is a mini sized khaki stud for us who is starting to sire litters occassionally .. he has a super soft bark .

one of our customers who bought "Harley" the tricolor pup above on right came out to let us give his booster shot ( we offer to do this for our customers for $10.oo , including nail clipping, or worming if needed. just to be sure everyone is keeping up on their shot series and save them some money on shots) As a student at the time, they were on a budget and this saves a lot over going to a vet office every two weeks till all the shots in the series are completed.

10 week old Harley was already bigger than our 6 MO. old "Little Man" who is now a stud doggie ! he's not much bigger than that now except he is spoiled and sits on our lap while we cook out on the deck waiting for his piece...!! and getting one..! so he is chubbier though now . LOL !

Note that not all minis are as small as little man, and also some can turn out smaller. Luckily he can very well pass on his genetics to his offspring though!

Over feeding while a mini is growing can cause them to be larger than they would have been. Watch what you feed your mini, its easy to spoil & pamper them, they are so adorable.
Also, they are small, but most of our mini beagles dont tend to have the hyper-activity levels that can be associated with other small breeds- most of them tend to have about the same amount of energy-level as the other standard beagles, balancing being an active playmate, & a laidback lap dog. They can certainly be content to be a couch potato like Grace is when she's inside our house, the lifestyle learned from the family growing up , and then can have their active fun at the appropriate times.

Nano Mini:

(exceptionally tiny babies, usually Runt of a Mini Litter or born to a nano mom)

If we occasionally refer to one of our tiny mini size beagles by what we have called a "Nano" mini beagle, it was determined on an individuall basis after the litter has been born. Its when we notice a puppy seems to be exceptionally small, like the Runt of a Mini Litter, which requires our extra full-time attention & care constantly watching over the little one from birth & helping them nurse when surrounded by much bigger, pushier siblings. Then that we will classify & announce the baby as a nano mini on the website, where the tiny size of the newborn is exceptionally small.

Usually such a tiny one announced as a nanomini would be the Runt of a Mini litter, or born to a Nano mom, such as Saphire below... A nano & a mini adult could easily be within the same Weight range, you can't really predict the full grown weight of a 'runt', espcially since they were the one with the unusual size in the litter. Being a Mini is based on taking after parents, which means taking after their genetic predisposition to be smaller, however a nano mini is a rare occurance.

We held onto her longer partially out of own curiosity to see how small she was going to stay, as well as for her protection since we had decided she needed an adult household, and though many people with small children asked about her, we waited to find the right adult home match for her!

A reputable breeder does not try to guarantee a certain size knowing there are so many variables that can influence an adult size. Among these are very often the amount of food the new owner chooses to feed as the puppy goes through the growth stage.
(Overfeeding requires the body to adjust to the amount of food intake, & stretches the stomach, as well as adding fat rather than lean muscle. A beagle will overeat if their new own does not responsibly feed their individual body's size. Obviously a breeder has no control over what happens once the puppy is in its new home, we can only make suggestions. Some people like to feed their pets from the table- this is especially not reccomended if you want your puppy to stay as small as possible. It is also best to stick with our reccommended food- Eukanuba Small Breed &/or Iams, as they are nutritional without the bad additives- such as "sugar" found in Beneful. Now why would your beagle need sugar... I am pretty sure they will eat their dog food without it! lol )
Another variable that can come into play is the various sizes of ancestors
If on or joining the waiting list for a sunshine acres beagle, Nano-Mini should not be an only preference of yours, as these guys are rare & randomly appear among a few special litters, & they are classified as such due to the amount of extra attention given to them from birth. We dont want anyone to have to wait too long for one of our babies so we prefer you ask to join for both a Nano & a Mini /other preference in size so we will be able to offer you pups to pass or claim sooner rather than later...
Potential Homes: We are also extra careful about what homes we place special babies like these into- and typically prefer adult homes to ease any worries about young children handling the slightly more fragile, sweet little puppies that we have worked so hard to raise right. Its certainly not that the puppy can't keep up with kids- its actually that the puppy is still just as capable of keeping up with the kids, yet so tiny to be running around under uncareful feet.. or runned around in little hands through the house... (We are selective about this anyway, even with standard puppies- we want what is best for all our babies, never simply an 'easy sell'. The whole reason we breed & raise beagles, is because we love them! ...and so we can always have puppies to love on & include in our homelife!)

The Nano's Price reflects our concentrated efforts in raising tiny puppies, and further narrows the field for the appropriate & lucky potential homes.!

People often ask us to give them a perspective on just how small our Nano - Mini beagles are in relationship to a Standard beagle ... Here Saphire when pregnant stands next to our largest Beagle Daisy . Nano and mini beagles are still a beagle just much shorter legged and shorter body.. shorter tail ears and smaller heads... not everyone needs or wants such a tiny beagle and they are super rare but occassionally we do have them for those patient enough to wait on one !

Like Children, siblings can grow up to be all different sizes, depending on multiple influences, such as taking after different genetics, and often diet while growing up.	A litter of our beagle puppies can come in all different colors, regardless of the mother's color! Her color would simply mean that she is genetically able to also have a puppy like her color in her litter, however the offspring may take after other ancestors in the background, or daddy's coloring or his ancestors colors !

	The Pre - School Stage! Beagle Puppy Information. Pregnant mommies have a 2 month gestation period. After birthing the following 2 weeks consists of eating lots of nutrient rich, milk-producing yummy food while constantly nursing their newborns whose eyes are closed, after those first 14 or so days their eyes open, & the remainder of that 3rd week they are getting up, interacting with each other and learning more about gentle human contact now that they can see us. Teeth start coming in at 3 weeks as well. Over the next week mommies begin spending less and less time constantly tending to the puppies & cleaning up after them. The babies begin learning to use paper, and keep their bed clean, and start eating Eukanuba &/or Iams Canned Puppy food for a few days, then with dry Small Breed Puppy mixed in, until finally learning to eat just the dry kibble and drink water versus momma's milk. During this time they have begun socializing, and focusing on their human caregivers rather than mother Dog for all their needs, and learn to look to humans for both love and instruction. By the time they leave our home, she is out of the picture, making for a much easier transition to life in a human family. At that stage, they are eager to learn from everything around them, and absorb interaction like a sponge.
